I think it’s important to tell reddit refugees that the reason Tumblr has blue (and rainbow) checkmarks is not popularity, but just to make fun of twitter. You can have them too if you want, they don’t do nor mean anything, they won’t make you more visible, they will just show up next to your url in pretty colors.

The only way to be popular is either posting or rebloging cool stuff. Likes don’t do much besides telling the author of the post “hey I like this”. Nobody can see how many followers you have, your side accounts or anything that doesn’t show up in your blog. People can see who you follow or what you recently liked, but there’s an option in the settings to hide that info (unlike twitter, that seems to love subjecting people to public ridicule).

Btw, once or twice a year you’ll find a skeleton gif or apple pizza post fucking up your dash. This is normal, we break this site for sport. We encourage you to do it too.

Enjoy your music frogs.

Get enough of em and they make you less visible cuz they shove your name and post into the ether before breaking your dash. Unless they’ve finally fixed that bug, @thebibliosphere ?

Lol, no. It’s fixed for folk on Android but not iOS.

im always thinkjng about that one time i was on register for like 4 hours straight and said over mic “someone blease take over register i am about to become the joker.” and they came to relieve me faster thab ive ever seen anyone relieve me before

this has become a Thing at my place of work. I described this post to @ziracona and we started to look out for signs of one another “turning into the joker” and then started checking on everyone else we work with. The procedure is, if you notice that your coworker is turning into the Joker, you send them to the back to drink water/sit down/ take meds for a little while.

This not only spread to the rest of the staff, but the staff developed a complex sliding scale of jokerficiation to gauge how well one’s coworkers are and how likely they are to lose it on a member of the public. Possibilities include Alfred, Gordon, Catwoman, Harvey Dent, Big Bad Harv, Harley Quinn, etc with The Joker being the worst spot you’re gonna get in.

On one memorable day, @ziracona asked a coworker where she was on the jokerfication scale, and was told: ‘I’m in Ace chemical plant, looking down at the vats’ which naturally caused Zira to send this girl to the back to rest. Later, when this girl reappeared, Zira asked where they were now and the girl responded ‘now I’m swimming around in the chemicals’ Chilling

Anyway, I hope OP gets to know that they’ve affected a whole nonprofit workplace ecosystem and contributes to people trying to take care of their coworkers and having shorthand for it

If you send someone to rest you tell them to go to Arkham. I’ve told someone before “I’m sending you to Arkham because you’re the Joker right now and I don’t want to work with him.” 10/10.

The sliding scale helps to know how to deal w it. Because there are two factors: evil, and stress. If either reaches 100, you become the Joker, and if both reach 70 or above, you also become the Joker. Stress is physical pressure, and can be fixed by rest only, but had a faster recoup time. Evil is hatred of people you’re forced to interact with and can be fixed by taking a task that gets you away from them, but has a longer cooldown. So if someone says they’re at a Harvey Dent they need stress relieved immediately, or he’s turning into Two-Face, but a Mr. Freeze needs to get away from The Enemies immediately or he’s going to straight up become the Joker.

me: i don’t want to see jellyfish so i will blacklist the tag #jellyfish

people with no common sense: je11yf1sh, je11¥fi5h, j*llyf*sh, je//ÿf!sh, j3ï||yf¡sh, gel lee fisk

result: cannot account for the sheer amount of possible ways to alter the word jellyfish

conclusion: i have to see jellyfish now.

Once again, tumblr is not tiktok, tag properly.

this heavily extends to tagging crucial things like “flashing,” “flickering,” and even “strobing”!

please dont tag flashing (or any of the above) as ‘fl*shing,’ 'fl4sh1ng,’ 'flashing /’ or 'flashing tw’ or any variant of! just tag it as 'flashing’!

By editing crucial tags like above ^ filters will not reliably blacklist gifsets/videos/images that can cause photosensitive individuals serious harm.

you never know who of your followers is epileptic or photosensitive, please do us the kindness of letting us curate our online experiences :,3

it’s amazing how ordinary objects can become so significant to only the owner

when my aunt’s best friend passed away, my younger brother was four years old. at his funeral, my brother went up to her and gave her a nickel. he told her very solemnly that it would make her feel better. she smiled for the first time in days, and tucked it in her wallet.

when my brother was 22, his best friend passed away unexpectedly. my aunt drove three hours to be there for him at the funeral. she went up to my brother, gave him a big hug, and then gave him a nickel. it was the same nickel; she had kept it in her wallet for 18 years, and now it’s on a necklace that he never takes off.

what i’m trying to say is that the love you put into the world will always find its way back to you.

Federal troops were called against 13,000 miners.Three battles that led to the biggest armed insurrection since the Civil War.

Ask yourself why you were never taught this in school.

Although there were planes used against the miners in the Battle of Blair Mountain, it is not true that this was the first time planes were used to drop bombs on American soil against Americans.

The Battle of Blair Mountain took place in August and September of 1921. Just a few months prior to that, on May 31 and June 1, planes were also used to help destroy the Greenwood district of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a prosperous black neighborhood nicknamed The Black Wall Street. At least 39 people died during the event, which is known as the Tulsa Race Massacre. Hundreds were wounded, and 6,000 black people lost their homes.

Both of these events were hugely important moments in American history.

Ask yourself why neither was taught to you in school. Also ask your local school board.

I was gunna put this in the tags but it’s a lot. When i first started going through the process of getting a diagnosis, i was labelled with ODD. I immediately took issue with this, it seemed like an unfair diagnosis based entirely on the session the psychiatrist had with my parents (which mostly consisted of “my child is being really difficult on purpose”), and Hoo Boy when i tell you ODD immediately strips you of your ability to call out anyone on anything, that would be an understatement. I couldn’t even disagree or bring up my concerns about the validity of MY OWN DIAGNOSIS without it being labelled as oppositional defiance. Whenever i displayed any negative emotion the “treatments” did so much more harm than good. When you label someone as ‘defiant’ (ugh), when that word is put on their medical record, that person is never allowed to complain about anything again. Knowing that POC are disproportionately affected with this diagnosis makes me feel sick, i can only imagine what’s being swept under the rug as someone just being “defiant to authority”, not even just in the medical field but as justification for police brutality and mass incarceration. When i say medical racism kills people, this is what i mean.

this is so fucking important. reblog.

I love going trough the notes every time bc there’s always someone in the notes insisting we’re all mean and that you can just wear thick dish gloves over your fake nails as if I wouldn’t assume you’re going to Patrick Bateman my ass if you walked into the bedroom with claws and yellow rubber gloves
